Mary is a Clinical Research Nurse Manager at the INFANT Research Centre. She has over 36 years of experience in neonatal intensive care and brings her wealth of clinical experience to research, working across various projects.
She assists the PI in day-to-day management of the research studies including obtaining informed consent to participate, data collection and data entry to research database, co-ordinating follow-up appointments, assisting in the high-risk follow-up clinic, and to conduct family surveys.
She graduated in June 1989 from a 4-year integrated Paediatric and General Nurse Training programme at CHI Crumlin, and went on to complete the Neonatal Intensive Care Course at the Coombe Hospital in 1991. Her career has been deeply rooted in neonatal care, where she has contributed to numerous clinical research trials—most notably, participating in the first administration of surfactant to premature infants.
She was also a member of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Team in Cork, served as a BLS Instructor and mentored many junior staff at CUMH over the years.
Mary holds a special place in her heart for the many babies she has cared for.
